The Expansion of the Port of Veracruz has begun. The objective is to position it as a modern port zone. This construction will be done with the latest generation of technology such as sheet steel piling using top quality materials. This will permit the entry of the latest generation of ships furthering that which is deemed economy of scale.
The Port of Veracruz is located at the Gulf of Mexico in the Atlantic Ocean, its location is strategic for trade between Mexico and the world. It is a leader in cargo movement along with agricultural bulk products containers and vehicles having its characteristic mark being that of innovation, productivity, efficiency in the handling of goods and in the logistic implemented in their movement.
Additionally, at this moment the first stage of construction is carried out for the expansion of the port of Veracruz, a work of port infrastructure and logistics which will make the zone one of the most important on the American continent. With 54 Maritime Routes, inter-connected with 150 Ports throughout the world Veracruz is a port zone with an ample foreland promoting domestic trades with countries of the 5 continents.
In Hinterland, it mainly covers 15 states of the Mexican Republic an area with the population of 66.5 million and which represents 55% of the National Gross Domestic Product or GDP. All types of cargos are handled in the port of Veracruz, automotive, general, fluids, bulk agricultural and mineral and containerized. The port also has experienced in mobilizing oversized and special cargo. It mobilized 6 of every 10 vehicles within the national ports which makes us the national leader in the sector.
In recent years the port of Veracruz has undergone modernization of its infrastructure. Having all the necessary infrastructure with perfectly well-designed roadways, lighting, security and access points. They have constructed and put into operation the centre for attention to transport logistics where transport trucks enter and leave the port zone in a controlled manner. Efficient, secure and offering food and rest stations for transport drivers. The logistics activity zone is a 300-hectare area providing an area for business which give added value to foreign trade goods as well as the distribution centre.
The port of Veracruz is socially responsible guaranteed under ISO 14001 the same which allows for the development and implementation of the environmental policies. Being more than 70 hectares for the conservation of vegetation and wildlife important for the zone’s ecological equilibrium.
The port of Veracruz is secure have implemented the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code the ISPS Code and have ISO 28000 which provides for the supply chain security.

According to the new dynamics world trade with first rate infrastructure and equipment, 25 new docking positions will be constructed in two phases, during the first stage the same which is currently under way and which will conclude in 2018 the 4.3 KM long western breakwater will be constructed.

ESC supplied 1000 metric tons of King H Pile ESC-H1180B-1-2 for the combined wall system Grade S430, 32metre lengths.
The New Port Infrastructure have a depth of 18meters and an 800 meter diameter turning basin. This construction will be done with the latest generation of technology such as sheet steel piling using top quality materials. This will permit the entry of the latest generation of ships furthering that which is deemed economy of scale.
In the second stage, the eastern breakwater will be constructed giving the necessary shelter for the remaining docking positions such as terminals for vehicles, fluids, bulk and general cargo. Veracruz received ships of dimensions and specifications requiring the equipment necessary, the same which is necessary for secure navigation and docking at the piers and which furthers and strengthens the foreign trade of our country.
During the construction of the two stages 140,000 of direct and indirect jobs will be generated. It is estimated that when the expansion of the port of Veracruz is completed in the year 2030 it will have the capacity for handling 95million tons. Veracruz will be Latin America’s largest port.
